FAQs

What equipment will my son need?

SBYL can provide almost everything that your son will need for the season. The only things that you’ll need will be cleats and a mouth guard. Everything else can be borrowed. We do encourage all boys to have their own sticks and eventually we find that your son will love lacrosse so much that you’ll end up purchasing all that’s needed.

When and where are the practices?

Once the regular season gets underway all age groups will practice twice during the week and once on Saturday. As the season progresses the Saturday practices will be replaced by games against other local rec programs.

All practices will be held at the VA Hospital Fields, 1970 Roanoke Blvd, Salem.

Games will be played at various locations. Your coach will be sure you have all the information you need.

What is the USA Lacrosse membership number?

USA Lacrosse is the national governing body of lacrosse. All SBYL players are required to be a member of USA Lacrosse, and their membership must be current for the duration of the season in order for the club to have comprehensive insurance coverage.

If you are not yet a member or need to renew your membership, please visit the USA Lacrosse Membership page.

What are the rules of Lacrosse?

USA Lacrosse has published videos of age-specific interpretations of the youth rules here.
